Monitoring & Dispatch
Alarm Monitoring & Control Room
Between your alarm going off and an officer arriving, someone has to receive the signal, make sense of it and send the right help. Vigilant CQ Security monitors alarm and panic signals and coordinates dispatch, so that activations at your property are acted on and you are kept informed.
- Alarm and panic signals monitored
- Verification before escalation
- Dispatch coordination
- Client feedback on incidents

What alarm monitoring actually does
A siren on its own is easy to ignore. Monitoring connects your alarm to people who act on it. When your system sends a signal, the control room sees which property and, depending on your system, which zone or type of alert was triggered. That information decides what happens next.
Signals we can monitor, depending on your equipment, include intruder alarm zones, panic buttons, tamper alerts and arming and disarming events. Monitoring is most effective when paired with armed response, so that a verified alarm becomes a physical visit.
From signal to dispatch
- Signal received: the control room identifies the property and type of alert.
- Verification: where appropriate, operators try to reach you or your nominated contacts and confirm passwords. A panic signal is treated as urgent without waiting for a call-back.
- Dispatch: an armed reaction officer is sent to the property, or on-site guards are alerted where you have them.
- Coordination: the control room stays in contact with the officer and, where needed, alerts the police or emergency services.
- Close-out: the outcome is recorded and you receive feedback.
Linking monitoring with guarding and patrols
On larger sites, the control room is also the link between officers on the ground and their supervisors. Static officers and patrol teams report in, and incidents they raise can be escalated quickly. For clients with both electronic security and guards, this keeps alarms, guards and reaction officers working from the same information instead of separately.
Keeping your contact details accurate
Monitoring is only as good as the information behind it. When you sign up, we capture your emergency contacts, verification passwords, site access notes and any special considerations such as elderly occupants or dogs. Please tell us when contacts or passwords change. This information is kept confidential and used only to respond to your property, in line with POPIA.
Your alarm also needs to communicate reliably. We test this when you join and can advise on or quote for a new alarm system if your equipment is not dependable.
Reports and your agreement
Clients can ask for a record of activations, callouts and outcomes for their property, which is useful for spotting recurring false alarms or patterns of attempted entry. How and how often this is provided is set out in your agreement. Monitoring is an ongoing service, usually combined with armed response on one agreement.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need armed response as well as monitoring?
Monitoring without a response option can only call you or the police. Most clients combine monitoring with armed response so that a verified alarm results in an officer visiting the property. We can advise on what suits your situation.
What happens if the control room cannot reach me?
If nobody on your contact list answers, the alarm is not ignored. Depending on the type of signal and your agreement, an officer is dispatched to check the property, and you are informed of the outcome as soon as we can reach you.
Can you monitor an alarm installed by another company?
Often, yes, provided the system works and can communicate with our control room. We test it first and tell you if anything needs to be changed or upgraded.
How do I update my emergency contacts?
Contact us by phone or email with the changes. We confirm the update with you, because accurate contacts and passwords are essential for verification during an alarm.
