Building sites
Construction Site Security
Building sites change every week: fences move, new materials arrive, contractors come and go, and valuable plant stands in the open overnight. We provide construction site security that adapts with the project, protecting materials and equipment, controlling access and keeping a clear record for the main contractor.
- Materials and plant protection
- Contractor access control
- Night and weekend cover
- Scales with project phases

Why building sites are easy targets
Construction sites concentrate exactly what thieves want: cement, steel, copper, cable, tools, diesel and fittings, often stored in temporary containers behind temporary fencing. Losses are only part of the cost; delays while materials are re-ordered can affect the programme and penalties.
Common problems include:
- materials disappearing overnight or over long weekends;
- fuel siphoned from plant and generators;
- unknown people entering the site posing as labour;
- deliveries short-dropped or signed for without checking;
- fittings stolen from units nearing completion.
Security that changes with each phase
Site establishment and earthworks
Focus on the perimeter, the site office and parked plant. Night guarding and patrols are usually the priority.
Structure and building
More materials on site and more labour. Gate control, delivery checking and material yards need attention during the day as well.
Finishing and handover
High-value fittings such as plumbing, electrical and kitchen components are installed and easy to remove. Units may need to be locked and patrolled until handover to the client or a residential or commercial security provider.
We review officer numbers with you as the project moves through phases, so you are not paying for more than the site needs.
Contractor access and delivery control
Gate officers keep a record of who is on site and what comes in and out. Typical duties agreed with the site manager include signing contractors and labour in and out, checking that visitors have completed site induction, recording delivery vehicles and checking quantities where the procedure requires it, and controlling plant and tools leaving the site.
Officers follow your health and safety file, wear required PPE and stay out of active work zones unless instructed.
Nights, weekends and electronic support
Most construction theft happens when work stops. Night and weekend guards can be armed or unarmed depending on risk, and may be supported by temporary CCTV, lighting recommendations and mobile patrols on large or spread-out sites.
Officers are PSIRA-registered, screened and supervised, with incident reports going to the site manager. Contracts run for the project period and can be extended or reduced as the programme changes; terms are confirmed after the site assessment.

Frequently asked questions
Can you start security before work begins on site?
Yes, and it is often a good idea. Securing the site during establishment protects early deliveries and plant and sets access rules from day one.
Do your guards go through our site induction?
Yes. Officers complete your site induction and follow the health and safety file, including PPE requirements and restricted zones.
How do we reduce cover as the project ends?
We review officer numbers with you at each phase. Once units are handed over, we can scale down or hand over to the client's long-term security provider.
Can you protect a site that has been stopped or paused?
Yes. Paused sites are vulnerable because there is little activity. We can provide night guarding, patrols or temporary electronic security for the pause period.
