School & Campus Security
Schools and campuses carry a special responsibility: children and students, staff, parents and visitors all need to feel safe without the grounds feeling like a fortress. We assess schools, colleges and training campuses and quote on gate control, visitor management, patrols and after-hours protection suited to an educational setting.
- Calm, child-aware officers
- Drop-off and pick-up control
- Visitor and contractor checks
- Holiday and after-hours cover

The school day from a security view
Risk on a school or campus rises and falls with the timetable. Mornings and afternoons bring heavy traffic and many unfamiliar adults at the gate; the middle of the day brings deliveries, contractors and visitors; evenings, weekends and holidays leave buildings, computers and sports equipment exposed.
A security plan for a school would therefore look at:
- controlling who enters during drop-off and pick-up, including authorised collection of learners where the school requires it;
- signing in parents, visitors and contractors at reception;
- monitoring perimeter fences and secondary gates during the day;
- securing the property after hours and during holidays.
The right officers for an educational setting
Officers on a school site need a different manner from a warehouse or nightclub. We would brief officers to be calm, courteous and approachable with learners and parents, to follow the school's safeguarding and visitor policies, and to escalate concerns to the designated staff member rather than handle matters involving learners on their own.
All officers are PSIRA-registered and screened before deployment. Schools may also want additional checks for anyone working near children; we can discuss this and our background check processes during the assessment.
Colleges and larger campuses
Colleges, training centres and larger campuses have adult students, longer hours and more buildings. Here the focus shifts toward access control at entrances, patrols between buildings and parking areas, and protecting computer labs and equipment.
Electronic measures such as CCTV at gates and key areas, alarm systems on laboratories and offices, and panic buttons for reception and staff would be quoted where the assessment shows a need.
Working with principals and governing bodies
We would begin with a meeting with the principal, bursar or campus manager, followed by a walk-through during a normal school day and, ideally, at drop-off. The written proposal would set out recommended officer posts, hours and any electronic security, with options to suit the budget approved by the governing body.
Reporting would go to a nominated staff member, with incidents logged and concerns raised promptly. Contracts can follow the school year, with holiday cover arranged separately. Final scope is confirmed on assessment.

Frequently asked questions
Can you only provide security during school holidays?
Yes, holiday-only cover can be quoted. Empty schools are often targeted for computers, cables and equipment, so night guarding or patrols during holidays can be worthwhile even if you manage term time yourselves.
Will your officers discipline learners?
No. Discipline is the school's responsibility. Officers report concerns to the designated staff member and only intervene to keep people safe in an emergency.
Can you help with the morning traffic at our gate?
Officers can manage access at pedestrian and vehicle gates and help keep entrances clear. Traffic control on public roads is a matter for the local traffic authority, and we would advise on what can be done on school property.
Do you provide security for school events?
Yes. Sports days, concerts and open days can be covered by additional officers. See our event security page for how we plan for crowds.
