Mobile & Foot Patrols

Patrol Services

A fixed post protects one gate; a patrol protects the whole property. Vigilant CQ Security runs mobile vehicle patrols and foot patrols for estates, business parks, industrial yards and vacant properties, with every round verified and reported so you can see that the work was actually done.

  • PSIRA-registered patrol officers
  • Vehicle and foot options
  • Verified patrol rounds
  • Written incident reporting

When a patrol makes more sense than a fixed post

Static guards are the right answer when someone must be at a gate or a reception desk all shift. But many sites have a long perimeter, several buildings or open yards that a single post cannot see. That is where patrols earn their keep.

Typical situations we are asked to cover include:

  • Residential estates and complexes with internal roads, parks and boundary walls
  • Business and industrial parks where tenants share common areas after hours
  • Warehouses and yards with stock, vehicles or equipment stored outside
  • Vacant buildings, sites between tenants and properties on the market
  • Construction sites that are quiet at night and over weekends

Patrols are often combined with static security officers at the main entrance, so the gate is held while the patrol keeps the rest of the property under observation.

Mobile vehicle patrols and foot patrols

Mobile vehicle patrols

A patrol vehicle covers distance quickly and gives a visible deterrent along roads, perimeters and parking areas. Vehicle patrols suit large estates, groups of neighbouring properties and sites where checks are needed at intervals rather than all night. Visits can be scheduled or varied so the pattern is not predictable.

Foot patrols

Officers on foot see what a vehicle passes by: an open window, a cut fence strand, a door that has not latched, someone sitting in a parked car. Foot patrols work well inside business parks, around buildings and through internal walkways, and are usually run by officers based on site.

Many clients use both: a foot patrol inside the property and a vehicle patrol on the perimeter. The mix is agreed after the site assessment.

Patrol verification and reporting

A patrol you cannot verify is just a promise. We set up checkpoints at the points that matter on your site, and officers confirm each one as they pass, so rounds are recorded rather than assumed.

What you can expect from reporting, depending on what is agreed for your site:

  • Occurrence book entries for each shift, recording rounds and anything noted
  • Incident reports for anything out of the ordinary, from open gates to suspicious persons
  • Maintenance observations such as broken lights, damaged fencing or faulty locks
  • Escalation to the client contact or to armed response where a situation calls for it

Report format and frequency are set in your proposal so that you know what you will receive and when.

How we plan a patrol for your property

Every patrol plan starts with a walk of the site. We look at the boundary, lighting, entry points, where valuables are kept, how people and vehicles move, and any incidents you have already had. Where useful, this forms part of a broader security risk assessment.

From that visit we propose the patrol type, the hours to be covered, how many checkpoints, how often rounds should run and how the patrol links to any existing alarm or CCTV. Day and night shifts can be arranged, and coverage is confirmed per site once the assessment is done. We do not publish patrol routes or timings; they stay between us and the client.

Officers, supervision and contracts

Patrols are carried out by PSIRA-registered security officers who are screened before deployment and briefed on your site, its contacts and its escalation rules. Supervisors check on patrol staff and on the quality of reporting, and management remains reachable when you need to discuss the service.

Patrols can be arranged for a once-off period, such as a holiday shutdown or while a building stands empty, or on an ongoing contract that is reviewed as your needs change. Terms, hours and reporting are set out in a written proposal before anything starts.

Frequently asked questions

Should I choose vehicle or foot patrols?

It depends on the size and layout of the property. Vehicle patrols cover large areas and perimeters quickly, while foot patrols check buildings and walkways in more detail. Many sites benefit from both. We recommend a mix after walking the site and discussing what you need to protect.

How do I know the patrols actually happen?

Officers confirm checkpoints on each round, and rounds are recorded in shift reports. Incident and observation reports are sent to you in the format and frequency set out in your proposal, so you have a written record rather than a verbal assurance.

Can patrols be combined with a guard at the gate?

Yes. A common setup is a static officer controlling the entrance while a patrol covers the rest of the property. We can also link patrols to your alarm system and armed response so that alerts are followed up.

Can I have patrols only over a holiday period?

Yes. Short-term patrols are often arranged for shutdowns, vacant properties or periods of higher risk. We still visit the site first so that the patrol plan suits the property, and the period and hours are agreed in writing.

Will you share your patrol routes with us?

We agree the areas and checkpoints with you as the client, but routes and timings are kept confidential and are not published or shared beyond the people who need them. Varying the pattern is part of what makes a patrol effective.
